Biathlon
Biathlon consist of two part action, referring to the term "bi". Its where a cadet must run on a track or arranged course assigned to the person in charge of the event. After completing the running phase, the cadet will either shoot a prone, stand or maybe kneeling depending on the how the biathlon is set up. Then they run again on the same course and shoot another prone, standing, or kneeling. They must at least shoot three rounds and run four loops around the track or marked course. It is a very rigorous and challenging sport but a lot of fun as well. The annual event happens every year at Reed High School where the best biathlon competitors face off. Hug High School also organizes their own spring biathlon. More unique and different to Reed because its all outdoor and has all terrain running course. To participate on the biathlon you must:

1. Must be a JROTC cadet
2. Pass the shooter's safety test
3. Be able to run in long distance course
4. Exhibits good sportsmanship and a competitive drive

The Hawks finally won the 1st Place trophy, first time in Hug High School history. Along with the 1st place trophy, the team also broke the course record with 61 minutes.

As individuals, Earvin Montano took 1st place for the boys, followed up with Paul Bejo in 2nd place. For the females, Ruby Pineda took 2nd place and Blanca Reyes took 4th overall. Congratulations to the individuals who placed in top fives.
